Welcome to the website of Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU). The university is situated at the south-western part of Bangladesh. Commencing from the Patuakhali Agricultural College, PSTU was inaugurated by Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister, Peoples Republic of Bangladesh on 8 July 2000, and started its academic activities on February 26, 2002. Being the lone university in the Barisal division, PSTU was established primarily to facilitate easy access to quality higher education to a populace who had been deprived of this precious right for a very long time since the independence of our country. The challenges to our higher education system, particularly for a university are to carve out a path and a strategy to become an effective instrument in the process of progressive transformation of this country. In addition to producing graduates who are highly regarded in the job market, our focus is, therefore, also directed towards creating new knowledge and innovative minds. We are striving to instill the sense of right interests, attitude, morale and intellect in our students so that they are equipped with the best knowledge, skills, competence and attitude that they can utilize for their individual betterment and the prosperity of the society in general.
The developmental activities have been grossly overlooked for many years since the inception of the university. Nevertheless, we are gradually advancing towards our goal to transform PSTU into a universally recognized Centre of Excellence. The recent installation of the internet system in PSTU is one of the various developmental works that I have implemented since taking over as the Vice Chancellor. The internet will certainly pave the way for the faculty and the students of PSTU to upgrade their knowledge and enlighten their intellect. Currently we are working on upgrading the PSTU website substantially, which will transform the site into a true gateway between the university and the rest of the world. I believe everybody will get a clear picture of PSTU in general and the different academic and administrative sections in particular from visiting this website after completion of the upgrade.

I feel deeply honored to be provided with the opportunity to serve PSTU as its Vice-Chancellor. I am confident that with the help of all the concerned quarters I will be successful in leading PSTU towards the realization of the aspirations of its faculty, students and staffs.
