Department of Horticulture, Room no. C-105
Dr. Santosh Kumar Bose is a distinguished academician and researcher in the field of Horticulture, currently serving as Professor in the Department of Horticulture at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Bangladesh. With over 17 years of teaching and research experience, he has made significant contributions to postharvest biology, fruit quality management, and sustainable horticultural technologies. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), China, where he was recognized as an “Excellent International Graduate” in 2020. He also holds an MS in Horticulture from Bangladesh Agricultural University and a B.Sc. Ag. (Hons.) from PSTU, both with outstanding academic performance. With more than 16 years of teaching and research experience, Dr. Bose specializes in postharvest biology, fruit quality management, natural preservatives, ethylene regulation, cold chain management, and precision agriculture technologies. His research primarily focuses on the use of bioactive oligosaccharides and edible coatings to enhance the nutritional quality, safety, and shelf life of horticultural crops. He integrates molecular and biochemical techniques—including gene expression analysis and proteomics—with applied horticultural practices to develop sustainable postharvest solutions. Dr. Bose has published 46 research articles, including numerous papers in internationally recognized journals such as Food Chemistry and Postharvest Biology and Technology. He has supervised 20 MS students and actively contributes to the academic community as an editorial board member and reviewer for several national and international journals. Through his research, teaching, and mentorship, he is committed to advancing sustainable horticulture and ensuring food quality and nutritional security.
