I am a passionate educator, researcher, and explorer of the ocean's dynamic mysteries, currently serving as a faculty member in the Department of Marine Fisheries and Oceanography at Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU), Bangladesh. Since joining PSTU in 2018, I have devoted myself to advancing knowledge in physical oceanography, marine pollution, blue economy, and sustainable marine resources through both teaching and research.
My academic path reflects a deep-rooted dedication to marine sciences. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Fisheries from PSTU with distinction, followed by a Master’s in Fisheries Management from Bangladesh Agricultural University—securing 2nd position in my class—and another Master’s in Oceanography from the University of Dhaka, awarded with a Merit Scholarship. These journeys provided me with strong interdisciplinary foundations in areas like oceanographic processes, marine resources, and coastal zone dynamics.
A pivotal experience in my career was taking part in a 26-day multidisciplinary research expedition in the northern Bay of Bengal. During this voyage, I explored more than 20,000 square kilometers of ocean, collecting crucial oceanographic data—including CTD deployment, water samples, plankton tows, and sediment grabs—using a variety of scientific instruments. This immersive fieldwork not only deepened my practical understanding of marine science but also ignited a strong and enduring passion for applied oceanographic research.
I also had the opportunity to serve as a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, India, where I worked on coastal salinity structures using both in-situ observations and satellite datasets. Over the years, I have developed strong analytical skills using platforms like R, SPSS, Ferret (NOAA-PMEL), GMT, and Fortran, which I actively apply in my ongoing research on microplastics, heavy metals, and coastal ecosystem health in the Bay of Bengal.
Through my work, I hope to contribute to a deeper understanding of marine systems, inform science-driven policies, and inspire the next generation of ocean stewards. I firmly believe that collaborative research and curiosity-led learning are the waves that will carry us toward a more sustainable ocean future.
